The Nation’s Largest Provider
OF SERVICE DOGS FOR VETERANS
Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs coming from high-kill rescue shelters, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.
World’s Largest Shelter to Service Program
Before it was widely accepted, K9s For Warriors believed in the power of Service Dogs to treat veteran’s service-connected traumas. Independent research, along with our own, validates the effectiveness of a K9 companion in preventing veteran suicide.
Our proven program allows us to save the lives of shelter dogs in conjunction with saving veterans’ lives. To date, our team has rescued more than 1,500 dogs. Saving these four-legged heroes from a life of abandonment or euthanasia and giving them purpose.
K9s For Warriors is a founding member of the Association of Service Dog Providers for Military Veterans, a national coalition of fellow nonprofit Service Dog providers for military veterans (servicedogs4vets.org). The coalition’s primary purpose is to maintain or exceed Service Dog organization standards and use strength in numbers to advocate for policy reform that supports Service Dogs as medical equipment for invisible wounds. Each participating organization maintains its own brand identity.
K9s For Warriors is also the founding member of The American Service Dog Access Coalition (also known as Service Dog Pass). Service Dog Pass is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to reducing the burdens faced by disabled individuals while traveling with Service Dogs. Service Dog Pass prioritizes collaboration, with the goal of building the broadest possible coalition of Service/Guide Dog providers and access providers to end the use of fake and poorly trained “service dogs” while simultaneously raising Service Dog training standards.
K9s For Warriors is a founding member of The Fire Watch. The Fire Watch is Northeast Florida’s fight to end veteran suicide. We are uniting our War Fighters and allies to swiftly activate local assets, stand watch, and build a life-saving network. To date, no city, county, or state has ever reduced its veteran suicide rate, and this effort will be the first of its kind in the country.
